When the mobile application, Anchor first was established as a digital transformation to a popular industry reserved for celebrities and individuals with already large engagement, it definitely turned heads. But, did anyone expect the platform to become the first direct to creator advertisement payment option for the Podcasting industry? Of course.

History of The Anchor Platform

When the platform first existed in the space, it was one of the first hosting applications that provided 100% free hosting opportunities, regardless of hour length of recording time, or audience size. The platform also made it easy for anybody nobody the resources can easily create their audio and audio editing tools.

As the expansion of Anchor increased, the resources that the hosting application provided to its users, grew with the hype of their infrastructure. The first thing they introduced was their tablet application, that allowed audio editing tools that was needed for podcasting. They also grew to creating transcript teasers of podcast, to provide to users as marketing opportunities, to help grow the audience sizes of their listeners.

There was an increasing amount of users utilizing the site, and a demand for commerce opportunities for podcast. Prior to anchor involvement in the space, only podcasters that had collected 25,000 downloads from their podcast was eligible for advertisement opportunities. If you did not prior engage in a space that had prior connections with advertisers their was no way to gain economic opportunity in these spaces. Anchor in response allowed supporters to offer a monthly tip to their favorite podcasters. This allowed listeners regardless of anchor membership or not to be able to participate in showing love to whomever they wish. These payments will be available monthly.

The Expansion of Equal Financial Opportunity

After they expanded to tips, they advanced to sponsorship opportunities. This allowed a ton of small business and hobbyist who still had a small audience to gain revenue off tips, to be able to achieve through advertisement. Most ads have a script of how they want their ad to sound like. All you do is read the script thoroughly, to yourself. Once you have all the information, you should research the company, and see if it matches your values. If it does you continue the advertisement.

In simple words, the amount of money you are offered is per thousand or mile audience listeners. Anchor takes a 30% margin cut from your potential earnings and then stripe takes an additional, $0.25. You are not able to place income into processing until you reach the minimum amount of $0.26, in your money category.

The Possible Future of Anchor Is Still Unpredictable

So, Anchor sounds like an amazing platform, but with every platform there is multiple downfalls with this application. Anchor is the Facebook of podcast, in the process of expanding in large numbers fast due to providing an equal playing field into a social interaction, that soon became economical. That is the furthest expansion this application will have as of right now, in the potential of economic opportunity for podcasters.

Right now the main form of income for many attracted to Anchor will be the sponsorship opportunity. Although accessibility increase number of consumer interest areas, Anchor can provide to companies. The reality is the affordability levels compared to cheaper platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Google, will limit the full potential of growth for advertisement in the audio space. Especially since all of these large businesses, allow consumers to choose their budget, and only take consumers money based upon clicks on content.

Competitor Spotify, can eventually provide physical advertisement opportunities in these sectors to compete in the audio industry and these large companies. Although Anchor current application design is forced for it to only provide advertisers traditional opportunities from ancient times.

As Anchor expands in this space, we only truly hope anchor take in consideration the current marketing and financial opportunity. It will also be interested to see if Anchor decides to participate in a cryptocurrency exchange to prevent fees and disadvantages to smaller based podcast creators.

Comment below, let me know if you think that platforms like Anchor that are entering into a free accessible space against large companies like Google and Facebook will be able to receive enough demand by companies that need advertising, to be able to expand financial gain equally? Or will it stay like this until a decentralized economy is stabilized and used through exchanges?
